Today, Sinead drafted in some friends, in the form of 5th year Masters in Engineering Students. (Apparantly they owed her a 'favour')
We discussed our design with them, and talked through the options presented by the tutors. At first we did not show them the mock up model, and they were very wary, and not at all positive that the structure would succeed.
However when we showed David a mock up of the joint he instantly had a change of feeling. Although not certain, they assured us not to think about using tension cables as not only would this cause great stress to the wood but the equipment would bust our budget majorly.
Steel frames and supports were discussed, but money is again a problem, as is Marks refusal to open up to ideas.
